Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your Tanzania safari and Zanzibar holiday begins in Arusha. Your professional safari guide will meet you at your hotel, residence or another confirmed pickup point for introductions, luggage loading and a short briefing.

Begin driving toward Tarangire National Park. After completing entry formalities, raise the viewing roof and start your first wildlife game drive among open grasslands, acacia woodland, seasonal wetlands and enormous baobab trees.

Tarangire is particularly associated with elephants. Family groups may be seen feeding, walking through woodland, crossing safari roads or moving toward important water sources.

Continue across the Ngorongoro Conservation Area through open grasslands and pastoral landscapes before the scenery gradually expands toward the Serengeti ecosystem.

After entering Serengeti National Park, begin an afternoon wildlife game drive toward your lodge or permanent tented camp. Search for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, spotted hyenas and antelopes.

Serengeti contains more than open grassland. Rocky kopjes, woodland and river systems create different habitats for predators and herbivores throughout the year.

Arrive at your mid-range accommodation during the late afternoon or early evening for dinner and your first Serengeti overnight.

Full-Day Serengeti National Park Wildlife Safari

Day three is dedicated entirely to Serengeti wildlife viewing. With no major destination transfer, your guide can spend more time exploring different habitats and responding to recent wildlife reports.

Early morning can provide excellent light and increased animal activity. Lions may be found near kopjes, cheetahs often favor open terrain and leopards may use riverine woodland or trees as resting locations.

Search for elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, impalas, topi, hartebeest, hippos, spotted hyenas and numerous bird species.

Depending on the travel season, your guide may also explore areas associated with Great Migration movements. Herd locations depend on rainfall, fresh grass and water and therefore change throughout the year.

Enjoy lunch in the field and continue the game drive into the afternoon before returning to your Serengeti lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Serengeti Morning Game Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Begin the day with another Serengeti game drive. Morning light can create excellent photography conditions and another opportunity to search for predators before daytime temperatures increase.

Your guide may revisit productive wildlife areas or choose a different route toward the park exit while continuing to search for lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeest and zebras.

After lunch or according to the day's schedule, leave Serengeti and travel back toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The open plains gradually transition into cooler volcanic highlands.

Continue to your mid-range lodge around Karatu or another practical location near Ngorongoro for dinner and overnight.

Ngorongoro Crater Wildlife Game Drive

After an early breakfast, travel toward the Ngorongoro Crater descent road and begin your journey onto the crater floor.

Ngorongoro contains open grasslands, freshwater sources, wetlands, woodland and seasonal lake habitat. This variety supports a broad resident wildlife community.

Search for lions, buffaloes, wildebeest, zebras, hippos, warthogs, gazelles, spotted hyenas and jackals. Elephants may also be encountered in suitable parts of the ecosystem.

Black rhinos inhabit the wider Ngorongoro ecosystem, although sightings are uncommon and cannot be guaranteed.

Enjoy a picnic lunch before continuing the game drive. Later, ascend from the crater and travel toward Karatu or the Lake Manyara area for dinner and overnight.

Lake Manyara National Park – Transfer or Flight to Zanzibar

After breakfast, check out from your lodge and travel toward Lake Manyara National Park for the final mainland wildlife game drive of the package.

The park lies beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment and includes groundwater forest, woodland, wetlands, open areas and lakeshore habitats.

Search for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, waterbuck, baboons, blue monkeys, hippos and numerous bird species. Lions and leopards also occur within the ecosystem.

After the game drive, continue toward the appropriate airport or transfer point for your onward journey to Zanzibar. Flight arrangements depend on the confirmed package, available schedules and travel date.
